Refersion: Advanced Affiliate Marketing Made Simple

Refersion is an affiliate marketing platform that helps eCommerce businesses track sales that are driven by promoters, influencers and affiliates. The easy-to-use platform allows both brands and publishers to quickly leverage their networks and increase clicks and conversions.

Refersion integrates with multiple eCommerce platforms, including BigCommerce, Shopify, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, WooCommerce and Magento. The platform can also be connected with PayPal and Payment Rails to make payments in 39 world currencies. The company, founded in 2015, prides itself on helping businesses of all sizes thrive, whether that be through training and support or building custom features for more complex businesses.

Increasing Market Share and Visibility

While the company had been seeing tremendous growth since their founding, they knew they needed to implement a proven SEO program to capitalize on organic traffic opportunities. Previous to our partnership, the company had not been putting much emphasis on SEO or content marketing, instead relying on other channels to bring in leads. They wanted a partner to help them not only increase their qualified organic traffic, but also build out content that would position them as a thought leader in their space. The company also knew that they already had some traction in the search results, but needed guidance on how to utilize those and how to leverage that traffic.


Using SEO and Content to Increase Awareness

Visiture partnered with Refersion in June of 2019 to help them with their organic search goals. Our first initiative was to conduct a deep dive into the company and their industry. Our team also completed a thorough technical audit of the company’s site, as well as both backlink and keyword analysis.

Our technical audit uncovered a few issues with the company’s site. In terms of SEO best practices, Refersion’s website was fairly well optimized for organic performance. Our team did recommend various changes to help the company reduce some redirect and index bloat issues.


However, the biggest issue that we uncovered was a lack of content to support the site. Not only were some of their pages lacking body content, but they had no content marketing strategy to help bring in traffic or produce backlinks.

Therefore, our biggest initiative moving forward was to implement a strong content marketing component that would help drive quality backlinks and ranking signals to the site. Our content strategists worked closely with Refersion’s internal team to create content that would resonate and engage the company’s target audience. This content was then used in various tactics. Part of the content was used to supplement the company’s blog to bring in organic traffic, while our outreach specialists pitched other content pieces to key websites with high keyword relevance, domain authority and social media influence.

This combination of tactics helped the company see ample results in their organic performance. Over the length of our partnership, the company has secured over 23 publications, with more than 45 links and an estimated coverage of over 36,000.
