Bokksu: Sharing Culture Through Snacks.

Bokksu is a premium subscription service for people that delivers delicious snacks and teas from all over Japan. Having lived in and snacked his way through Japan, Danny Taing founded Bokksu in 2015 as a way to deliver to consumers authentic, artisanal products directly from Japanese producers that are not easily available outside of the country. Boxes are curated around a different theme every month, providing a deeper exposure to Japanese culture to their customers in over 70 countries around the world.

THE CHALLENGE

Increasing Visibility and Search Traffic.

Prior to our partnership, the brand had not seen much success with their search engine optimization efforts. However, they knew if they wanted to continue growing the brand, they would need to increase their exposure through these channels. In July of 2019, Visiture was brought on to help improve the company’s brand visibility and organic search traffic.

THE SOLUTION

Utilizing SEO and Content Marketing to Craft a Better Experience.

To kick off our engagement, our SEO team started by conducting both technical SEO and content marketing audits for Bokksu. We found several instances on the company’s site that did not meet eCommerce best practices for SEO. We made recommendations to the team working on the site’s overall speed, the internal linking strategy within the website and their redirect chains.

 

In addition, we also worked with Bokksu’s internal team to make additional improvements, including enhancing their main navigation bar, writing body content for both their market landing pages and main category pages and reworking some of their URL’s structure.

 

Not only did these changes help improve the website’s overall SEO performance, they also enhanced the user experience on the site as well. This increased functionality allowed for greater usability for visitors and a more streamlined experience, which increased not only time on page and pages per visit, but also conversions and sales.

Further, our content team worked to produce high-quality articles, both for Bokksu’s blog and for high-authority, external publications. Using the research collected through our audits of their site, industry and competitors, our content strategists worked to create compelling content that would resonate with the company’s target audience. We focused on specific, timely content that centered around their subscription box and Japanese culture.
