After pivoting from close-knit offices to virtual meetings last year, the standard work setting no longer looks the same. While working remotely has certainly become part of our daily lives, feeling isolated from coworkers doesn’t need to be the new norm. In an effort to get to know our employees better during this time of separation, Visiture is spotlighting members of our various teams willing to share their personal backgrounds, favorite things, and fun facts. As we all attempt to feel a bit closer while apart, we hope this brings you a smile and insight into the Visiture family.
Meet Letitia Petway

What three items would you take with you on a deserted island?
An endless supply of wine.
A mirror. (First to make the fire, then make sure I don’t look crazy on this island!)
A cutting knife.
If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Music Makes Me High by the Lost Boyz – I love the Lost Boyz and this song is such a classic, feel-good song and I share the same sentiments.
What’s the most unusual thing you’ve ever eaten?
I don’t venture too far off ‘usual’ so let’s go with squid. We dissected squid in middle school, and after we dissected it our teacher fried a few pieces (not the dissected ones of course) so we could taste it!
Tell us about the best trip you have ever been on.
My best trip, hands down, was when I traveled to East and South Africa during the summer of my senior year of college. It was a study abroad trip hosted by the United Negro College Fund Special Programs. Ten of us from various HBCU’s traveled with our three instructors to study abroad. While studying African Literature, Journalism, and African History, we also participated in various tours to learn more about each city we visited.
We stayed in Senegal for one week, spent two weeks in Cape Town, then ended the tour in Johannesburg, South Africa. While in Johannesburg, we were all divided among various non-profit organizations where we interned. Also, while in Johannesburg, I had the opportunity to volunteer with SABC3, one of the broadcasting stations in South Africa. I got this opportunity about one week before we were supposed to leave, so I was able to extend my stay while the other students and chaperones left. I also got to be a part of the production crew for their International Women’s Day Celebration brunch where Zindzi Mandela (Nelson Mandela’s daughter) and other powerhouses had brunch and spoke of fond memories and how much they’ve overcome. I even got to sit down with the late Zindzi Mandela to speak one-on-one, which was such an awesome experience!
